Guys, I need advice...

It's time I get some (maybe studded) boots. Which ones do you have and why?

Cant go wrong with vass. Had mine 7 years and still going strong. Only thing i wished i got was the fleece lined.
Well that's easy then, it's the only brand that came to mind (or that I know of) hence my post.

As for fleece lined - slapping on a pair of ski socks may be enough for cold days?

A couple of friends have had removable fleece lined ones (may not have been Vass) and said they couldn’t get on with it because the lining kept moving and was uncomfortable.

I really don’t like having hot feet so would avoid them myself.
My snowbee neoprene studded wellies are bad enough but they give excellent grip.
The studs do wear and rather expensive boots though.

Baffin trapper were great winter wellies a couple of decades ago but the price has trebled recently. Grubbs snowline we're good but seen some negative reviews the last few years saying the quality isn't what it was ,anyone here using them can comment ?

Just remember, with Waders/Wellies always get the next size up from your normal size. ;)

Ian.

I don’t like to go on rocks much these days without studded boots.
They’re a game changer but you do come to rely on them, although it’s also nice to walk over slimy black or weedy bits without becoming Bambi on ice!

Snowbee rockhoppers for me. Usual size for without waders, and a size up for wearing with waders.

My felt sole wading boots fell appart on a rock mark before Christmas
Are they studded? I’ve looked at them but felt the welly type would give more ankle support on rocks.
Also I don’t use breathable waders, they’re just my standard rock fishing boots

They have titanium spikes in them I believe, they have been a godsend on the rock marks for me, especially on the wet algae. I'll take a picture of the underside later for you.

I prefer the boots than the wellies, they have a zip on the side and they are much easier for me to get on and off than the welly ones
