Multipliers on a tripod

??? Nope, never tried them. Had to google them to see what they were
Me too, and I presume you are talking about QF swivels not QR!

That’s them. They are strong and secure but can be a bit fiddly, especially if your fingers are a bit wet or slippy with bait.

QFs are good for keys that you need to take off a bunch (tractor, quad, trailer locks etc) but I don't use them for fishing anymore

Just been reminded of another way to keep rods straight and secure in a tripod - file/sand a flat edge on the butt cap and glue a corresponding suitable flat surface in the cup that the rod will 'key' in to. These ideas come from overseas big fish specialists shore fishing for large running fish using sizeable live and deadbait rigs with reels in free spool and ratchets engaged. The idea being to stop rods bouncing out of the rest whilst ensuring line is able to flow freely at all times and can't get trapped. I've read articles by those who have gone to the effort of fixing masonry eyelets into favourite marks to securely tie down their rests. Another has built a 'rocket launcher' and bait table arrangement in situ on his shore edge property - lucky man, somewhere I saw a picture of a full blown fighting chair fixed down on a rock mark - so not exactly UK standard requirements !

Whatever happened to the tried /trusted pebble placed tightly in the butt cap to keep things from twisting ? it's all you ever need to keep reels upright, pebbles are freely available from any good beaches and rock marks and fit all size butt caps, but you can have custom ones made in any colour that Halfords stock.

still use them and like them, getting a bit hard to get hold of though
Google search brings some up in stock:

You can get butt caps with the slots already moulded in them

Yeah great no stock!

Fuji make them but only 19 and 22mm ID. Some wider butts you would need to glue in a small insert to accept them.

I'm sure an Expert of your Calibre could soon Find out how to Stick one up there Butt's?:eek::D

Tournamag says they are out of stock too. I didn't see that? Anyway a Google search may turn up someone with some stock.
