Advice Trident tackle ?

Like i said some like the stuff , one mans meat is another mans poison.
I admit I haven’t tried any of the gear and only gone by what I’ve seen on the forums.
My personal rule is to keep rigs as simple as I can.
So for a pulley I only use two swivels, beads and a lead/bait clip. Think they’re called the genie clip (?) but I buy the cheaper ones in bulk, not the extortionate Gemini ones!

Not dissing the Trident stuff, people seem to like it and more power to them, but as a lot of my fishing is over rougher ground, I’ve got into the habit of not loading rigs with extra bits that will just get lost.
Like you, I’ve found some rigs with springs and stops and god knows how many crimps, it all seems a bit OTT to me.

But then some do love the more technical side of fishing, which is fair enough. I just like to keep my own gear pretty simple.

Completely agree. The simpler the better. Easier and quicker to make, less to lose and I have never really noticed any difference in my catch rates when I use complicated rigs to simple rigs.

I would rather spend my money on good quality bait and reliable equipment.

Yes, I likes simple!

I bought the impact shield things when they came out. Worked very well, to be fair, but the £2/3 whatever it was for a pack of five was shocking to me.
Went back to the cheap option when those ones were lost, lol

Some of these bits are expensive, but that is where Trident are scoring. The Roto bait clips are only £2.50 for a dozen!

I just use the genie link things. Is that what they’re called?
Used to be about £4/5 for 100 but I’ve noticed the price has gone up a fair bit at Veals.

Mind you, a hundo pack lasts me ages...

Been using trident tackle for a while with no issues apart from today. Cast out not too hard and mid flight the terma link came Unclipped from my swivel losing my trace and wire was gutted

Must admit I’m like you, I like to keep everything nice and simple, less to go wrong

Yeah when you have brought gear in you have let it slack so it's become inverted so eye of swivel has gone into slot at side so when casting it's pulled it round and come out had it happen once in backwash on chesil saw it as about to cast and sorted it.

Cheers for the heads up on that. I was so surprised it happened as it’s never let me down. Cheers I will remember that next time ????

My order arrived a couple of days ago.
My first impressions are good.

The Hangover, up and over clip, is nice and small. My favourite rigs are up and over wishbones so these will be good for them.

The Kicker Clip works on the same principle as an Imp but is in one piece so no fiddly assembly needed. It will need to turn the whole clip by about 90° whereas the Imp just needs the plastic part to be turned up.

The Roto Clip is a two part thing, ready assembled, that is quite chunky.
It works by trapping the bend of the hook in a hinged piece that is forced open on impact with the water. It may be a bit fiddly to set up with a baited hook by the look of it.

The Termalink is nice and small but bigger than conventional rig clips. I can see how the problem above would happen, check before casting though and it shouldn't be a problem.

I'll stick to less complicated rigs for rough ground but these bits will be good for cleaner venues I think.

I must say that this is my opinion based on what they look like on the kitchen table, I have yet to actually use them.
A big bonus is they aren't that expensive and they are made in England.

HTH

I use it only problem I’ve had were a few times the bait clips didn’t release but apart from that very good

I think it's hard to better the Breakaway Fastlink/Spinlink to be honest. Once my stock of components like Imps etc runs out I might give them a try but to be quite honest I think they've reinvented the wheel with most of their items and it's just more plastic the planet could do without
