Hi Mole Trapper ,
I collect vintage tackle, too much stuff really .When I realised that I had too much stuff I started to have have annual tables at vintage UK fishing tackle fairs to offload some of it , I now sell all sorts of vintage or bespoke copies of various tackles at the fairs .
I also am a member of The Heritage Crafts Association, and listed as one of only five makers of vintage style bentwood fishing landing nets in the UK .
As a hobby I rebuild Split or Whole cane rods, Fibreglass, Lancewood rods, Fly or Coarse , service and refurbish vintage fishing reels and construct other various vintage style tackle, including shot tubes , float tubes , floats, banksticks , vintage style tackle wallets , Flamed bamboo net poles, etc etc, in fact almost anything to do with Vintage tackle I will have a go at making ..Sometimes it takes several attempts to get things right, but mostly I manage OK.
I have a collection of vintage split cane/whole cane / fibreglass beach rods and reels some of which get outings , they even bring in the odd fish when I am lucky .
I use Split cane as my main type of coarse rods , but am not at all single minded about them, if a situation demands using modern Carbon , and fixed spools I will put aside my old rods and centrepin reels . Having said that , I much prefer using modern beach gear , its fine using lumpy and bendy fibreglass beach rods, but todays Carbon rods and high tech reels are streets ahead of the vintage gear in every day use, they are lighter , and will help me to chuck a lead much further than any vintage rod would .
Not that they neccessarily catch any more

.
