Hello people,
I thought that I would ask the advise of some clever people but I don't know any so I thought of you lot.
I use a quiver top fishing rod quite a lot for my boat fishing but it's got a really horrible handle and as I've been a good boy I thought that I would buy an Imax Dam boat quiver. Mostly bream but sometimes catch things larger.
What do you sages think?
Cheers

I don't use one, just an 8ft or 9ft uptide rod, must be 30+ years old by now.

I have an Abu multi quivertip boat match rod, its quite long at 11-1/2 feet , and really quite an old model, designed for the England boat match fishing team.
There were not too may of them made I must have had it 20 years plus. No idea why more were not produced, as it is a fantastic blank. Good for Bream, Mullet ,and gets used when I am after flatties etc .
The handle was far too short for me, so I just removed the winch fitting , moved it up the butt section about 6 inches , fixed it in place and added some shrink tube above and below it . A simple and minor change made it far more comfortable to use .

There are lots of boat quiver rods around now, much like freshwater rods etc, they have ” designed in “obsolesence , plus the tackle tarts want a new rod so they can show off their latest aquisitions. Fact is, the new ones dont perform any better than the previous models and really I think most of us know it . There may be an ounce or two do difference in weight and thats about it .

The problem is apart from the ones that are a million foot long, there are none available. Around 9 feet wouls be an ideal length.
Ta for your answers so far.

Look at Trabucco, they do a range of boat quivers. I think veals sell them and also outdoor living where I got my latest continental rods from.

I have a couple of Leeda quiver tips, a 2nd hand 20/30lb and a new, old stock found in a store room, 12/20lb.
My mate has the 6/12lb so between us we have the full set but to be honest there's not a lot of difference between them, they're 8'.
I really like them. I got them late summer so they've not had a lot of work so I can't wait to try them on a decent Bream and a 10lb smut. I think it's a shame they don't make them any more.
The bite detection is very good and I think the tips give the fish more confidence to pick up the bait. Once the fish is on the rods behave like any similar wright rod but with an alarming bend in the tip, for obvious reasons.
My local tackle shop has some 9' rods which seem too long to me but they do look good.
Sorry to say I can't remember the maker's name but they are out there, £85 with 3 tips.
I'd look tomorrow for you but I'm away for a few days.
