I'd like to get myself a reasonable, but not too expensive rod and reel for shore fishing, somewhere in the £200 region. I don't want to spend too much, as I know that I won't be getting out that often, but at the same time, I don't want to buy something that's not going to last or be up to the job. Buyers remorse and whatnot.

I've been looking on Veals and they have a deal with an Akios Krave combo, does anyone fish with a Krave? Are there any other rods and reels that I should ve considering?

In that situation I'd be tempted to buy a better quality used set-up, or maybe a new reel, but with an older used rod.
But I've never been much of a tackle tart anyway.

Thanks. I have been scouring Gumtree and Ebay for a decent rod, but they're either too far away and collection only, or the price plus postage makes them less attractive.

I'll keep looking just in case (y)

There are loads on my local farcebook market place, goes without saying collect only to avoid scams.

Look for stuff being sold by a female, bloke's been chucked out/left her and she's selling at a price based on what he said he paid for it.
Some real bargains to be had.

Thanks folks, much appreciated.

I gave up on Facebook a few years ago and I'm not going back :)

I'll keep looking out and something might turn up in time. I'm probably getting a bit impatient to be fair, I have next week off and I was kind of hoping to have got something sorted out. ;)

If you decide to go down the quality used route I'm selling all my tackle. I have a selection of rods including a Grey's BZe, a couple of Zziplex and a Century Kompressor and a range of Abu multipliers including the 5600, 6500, 7000, 8000 and 9000 and a Penn 525 Mag 1. Also accessories such as Shakespeare seat box with backrest conversion, rod rests etc. I'm in North Yorkshire so if you want more details or want to have a look let me know. Note there are no fixed spool reels.

After all I have read recently, I wouldn't mind your BZE, but doubt you want to post it from Yorkshire, and it would be expensive.

It wouldn't be expensive but you're right about posting. I got it for a very good price when a local tackle shop was closing.
It was the postage I meant would probably be expensive. I was slightly tempted by the one I linked at Glasgow angling, but am on a self-imposed tackle buying ban at the moment due to not getting out once last year.
