The Century Fireblade GT's

Not sure it makes much difference either , how do you make an unbalanced set up ?
Wrong size weights and reel would work James ;)

Does having the reel down make a difference , i've always used my reels up the handle ?
Some of my rods do feel a bit 'top heavy'.

Then if you like it you always have the option to get another.;) But then again could a deal be done on a pair in the first instance.Decisions decisions.🤣(y)
Unfortunately JJ at the "Last Cast Saloon" doesn't stock Century rods, so getting a deal on a pair wont happen... ;)

Your rods feeling top heavy has nothing to do with where the Reel is seated, more to do with the rod itself..

Ian.

Not so Wingnut. Reel down can absolutely revolutionise a tip heavy rod
Would depend on the weight of the reel...Surely

Then unless you've had your hands chopped off or a major brain injury you'll understand the differences surely Dad????

I did try it once reel down but couldn't get on with it I shall persevere with it a bit more .

Would off the ground cast(brighton cast)be better with a glass tip or carbon tip ?

I think we have gone off track a bit here, i thought this thread was about the Century Fireblade GT's... :)

It shouldn't matter. It's more of a case of getting used to the rod you're using and getting the power and timing right. That will change slightly with each different rod. I find glass tip rods are easier to get used to.

I think they are just trying to distract you Ian to save you from parting with your money.;)
I think you are right mate, but i am not biting, honest i'm not... :D

Slightly longer rods tend to suit OTG casting, weather Carbon or Glass, shouldn't make much difference to be honest..🎣

Fishing Reel down does feel alien at first, but soon becomes second nature, keep at it.. (y)

Interesting. Personally I'm not at all convinced by the "how much does it weigh" train of thought with beach rods. It's a lot more about balance for me. Add to that the fact that most beachcasters are sitting in a tripod the majority of time....so why does weight matter much unless you're fishing an unbalanced set up (or you're a weakling that needs to grow a set of muscles)?
Just thinking about carrying to and from marks. I tend to fish more with my unabombers rather than my Imax Fr Match Plus because I find them easier on the carry.
