Rod Compression

I would load the reels with 25lb daiwa tournament mono with 36ft of 70lb leader ( greased weasel) and 6oz weights with a rotten bottom if its rough ground or 20lb with 36ft of 50lb leader ( greased weasel) and 4oz weights if its reasonably clean ground. Keep it simple. The Daiwa Mono will last 5yrs maybe 10. And is very abrasion resistant. Braid is a nightmare when you get tangles. Why do it to yourself. Mono is fine and easier to untangle. As for casting.....just an overhead thump is all you need. No need to overthink it. Use harbour rag or fresh blow lug on clip down rigs for flounder dabs and bass. The odd sole maybe if you keep hooks to size 2. Or smaller. In winter strips of mackerel for whiting.
