Non slip (Kreh) loop

Is this the correct way to tie the kreh (non slip) loop knot

See where the tag ends.. it doesn't actually go through the middle of the loop it sort of goes down the side

I always finished it by putting tag end straight through middle of the loop.....

Or is the pic just confusing me (optical illusion) and it is the same as video.. trying to get my head around it ...

Are you perhaps over thinking this? Surely the outcome is the same in both videos? The illustrations show 3 turns not 4 as highlighted in the text, and in the lower drawing everything appears to have been turned 180° Here in the UK I will use the Kreh/Rapala knot to add mobility when fly fishing with fry/baitfish patterns, but when lure fishing in the sea for bass and pollock I almost always use a clip for easy lure changes.

The 180 doesn't make a difference depends if you are looking at it from tying point of view or camera pov.

However passing the tag end (at the end) through the middle of the loop or passing it through the outside (down the side) of the loop are two completely different things

Most people pass through the middle of the loop , I would assume
1. Because is easier, less fiddly ..you will notice in the last video he is fiddling trying to get tag end down the side of main loop.
2. Because they don't know how the Kreh knot was originally designed.

I am just wondering if it makes a difference in strength etc..

Folk over the pond say they used to tie original way now go through middle.. and haven't noticed any difference.. BUT no-one knows (so far) if there is in fact a difference in strength.

I may do some testing.. is purely academic .. I enjoy playing with different knots

If I want a non-slip loop I use a double or treble overhand, never had either fail.
If you want to use fancy knots then use them, but just because some youtube voice says his is correct doesn't matter in the slightest,
I watch plenty of shooting vids on there that are completely wrong.

As I said to your last thread, use the knots you have confidence in, the rest is bull ****

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I don't intend to be rude.. am just trying to understand and debate stuff. I most certainly do listen and take the advice of those much more experienced than I am. I enjoy learning on the forums.

So for lures etc through the middle appears to be the better option... I leave it to the fly fish boys decide which is better for them

I'd never heard of that Kreh knot, don't fly fish, and like you, use a clip for lure fishing, usually one with a small swivel.
There was a thread about lure clips some time ago, where I mentioned that the SG Seekers rotate on the drop (according to the SG website) when worked sink & draw, and they can twist the line badly without a swivel, as I found out one afternoon.
