The Century Fireblade GT's

Rods arrived on time this morning with no damage to the very long box they came in. (y)
First impressions, they are very light, build quality is very good as expected from Century, only gripe is a naff cloth rod bag, but what do you expect for the price.;)

So, so far quite pleased, will have a better idea once they have had a session...🎣🎣

Just waiting on the Reel seats and tip tape now..

Nice Ian! If the rod bags are a bit poor, maybe get Midwater Luggage to whip you a couple of Ripstop Nylon ones, and preserve the originals just in case you decide to move the rods on in the future. Midwater bags are reasonably priced & good quality. 👍👍

Thanks for that Dave, luckily I have some spare Century padded bags in the size they need.. (y)

One thing of note, the guide spacings are odd, I know they are Hybrid rods, but there are only eight guides in total, all my zzipies have nine, and my Afaw Red range all have ten guides, and the butt guide is only 30mm, I would be very dubious about using a large spooled Mangle on one, but Century must have done extensive testing for both reel types i am sure.(y)

Ian.

The 14' and 13' both have eight guides plus tip guide Si, just spaced slightly different... (y)

Ian.
Scratch that, they only have Eight guides in total Si, mine arrived today.. :)

Ok bud, I'll check mine when back, but expect they are the same.

I may still get a pair, as tbh I'm happier with cheaper rods on the reefs than posh graphex ones!

My mate extensively tested the 14ft Fireblade GT with a fs in the down position.....pretty sure he had zero issues and said he will use this rod in the winter when it gets cold as finds FS easier than multi then🤷

he was using 20lb mono I think on a Shimano something or other 😆

Thanks for the info Si, just checked the Century Website, the 13' has seven + tip, 14' eight + tip, so I can stop worrying now.. 🤣
Makes sense the 14' would need an extra guide..:)

A tidy pair indeed.

Can I ask why you are going to change the reel seats?
I use Abu Grip-Lok reel seats on all my rods mate, I just like them, and with fairly large hands, the trigger gives me a vice like grip on my Multies.. Thats it really.. (y)

Ian.

My mate adds a coaster to his normal reel seat, to get the "trigger".... maybe something to try if the Abu become unobtainable 👍
Always used to get UK Hooks reel seats(fuji,s) for my rods with the coaster fitted .
Tronivpro used to do a reel seat with coaster attached, someone i know uses these on his Zzippies/Century rods without any issues.

I found some of the Abu Grip lock seats that Ian was looking for, for £9.99 this morning.
Too late I know, and not sure how genuine this crowd are:

Thanks for that Dave, but as you know i have sourced a pair now. (y)

Ian.

Maybe stock up on a few in preparation for next month's rod purchase? 😂
Christmas is just around the corner too...
Now now, don't give me ideas... 🤣

Ian.

Impossible too have too many rods, or so I used to think😉 I don't have a spare room I have a tackle shop that's only open to me🤪
Your right, one can never have too many Rods, or Reels, or tackle, that is my opinion anyway...:)
