Saltwater fly fishing

Personally I never worried about it, that's more for dry fly purists with a 3wt on a river,
if I'm trying to throw out a 9wt on a reservoir I cast from the shoulder ;)
Horses for courses comes to mind, I still lock my wrist and always cast from the shoulder even for king salmon.

Get casting lessons from a recognised instructor. I see far too many folk that have tried to learn by themselves, from a mate or YouTube etc that never come close to being proficient at it. Learn the wrong habits and they are very hard to erase.

Ok well I'm also a previous fly fisher (trout) so to help you,
Fly fishing you hold the rod & cast with your prominent hand/arm, and you reel with your weak hand/arm, because most of the time you leave the reel well alone, it's only there to hold the line, even most fish playing is done by hand with the line held clamped inside the first joint of your index finger. or between the thumb & index finger.
and the line comes off the bottom of the reel not the top.
I again cast with my prominent (right) hand and reel in with it right handed.
If i have fish on and want it wound in i just hold rod with let hand and then wind slack in.
I find it simple to do and again i am too uncomforatble winding left handed.

I cannot keep line in air after 3 movements back and too, i just let it land on water and then pick up and cast letting more line out.

Yes bad habit, which must have come about by fly fishing reservoirs with no trees near the back cast.

Hauling with the line hand - a key component to proper line control - saves too much false casting. Flycasting is about tip control, feel and timing. It's not about pushing with the shoulder or wildly aggressive arm movements. The likes of Sexy Loops or Simon Gawsworth demonstrate good casting on YouTube but as I said a good instructor can teach you this in short term time and iron out any poor technique. Think of it like a golfer (a dreaded thought!) - even the top pros seek the advice of an instructor from time to time. It's money very well invested.
