Thanks Bob. Yea, I have actually done that. They’re a bit large and cumbersome to get something around the 5oz mark but they do work for short range stuff.

The only way I could find to fix them though was by making up little pockets of chicken wire. That seemed to be the quickest and easiest way.
I keep meaning to do some more but don’t have any wire - or pebbles - at the moment.
Drilling and fixing an eye in is more trouble than I could be doing with, and I don’t have a bench drill or anything that would do the job anyway.

The other thing is, they are quite bulky to carry. Not the end of the world though.
I seemed to lose less of them as well - I think there was less opportunity for them to get stuck in nooks and crannies.

A few people have mentioned using Pebbles & stones as weights - good idea but it conjures up images of me stealing Wifey's kitchen scales and scouring Slapton beach for 4 & 5oz Pebbles!

Haha, there is that! I can get them readily enough.
What I found though is that you need something about tennis ball size (ish) to make a useful weight.
Which doesn’t make them the most aerodynamic things or easiest to transport - can hardly fit them all in a coffee tin like I do now.

I have heard of people drilling them out and using resin to fix an eye in, but that’s really more effort than I can be arrised with!

I wrap a few turns a 10lb line around the pebble then stick it all down with loads a electrical tape, not ideal for casting to the horizon, but ok for a good lob, getting right size ones for the tide is the pain.
