Nope, you’ve got it about right imo!Because of my lack of experience / guidance, I have always worked off the premise of K.I.S.S (we all know what that stands for
And also of the thought that the fish don't know if you have spent a few quid on your kit or "fowsands"
Ulimately and I am happy to be proved wrong, its all about presentation and knowledge of where you are fishing
Rig choice certainly plays a part in catches, especially depending on location/conditions but imo it’s nowhere near the deciding factor.
Sometimes it might make the difference on a finicky day or in certain circumstances and it never hurts to change things up, to a point.
But it’s also worth remembering that the reason you suddenly started catching on a slow day might be because the fish went on the feed due to the tide state, or simply moved into the area you were fishing, or it got dark, not necessarily because you’d changed your rig for the sixth time that day.
