Number of rods and hooks

Two rods with one or two hooks on each rig.
One line crossing another is a fairly easy fix, one line crossing two is a headache.
Boat or beach, same thing applies.
Yes that’s another good point, it can get messy with three! Especially if a fish takes one line through the others while you’re distracted sorting bait or whatever

When pleasure fishing, how many rods do you use and how many hooks?

Do you stick to the common match ruling of two rods and three hooks maximum ?
On the beach at night, I use a maximum of two rods, one with a two-hook Mortician rig with size 4 de-barbed circle hooks with lugworm and the other with a Dingle Dangle rig if fishing over rough ground; otherwise, it would be a single-hook running leger with a large bait. When there is a spring tide, here in South Wales, I fish with one rod set up depending on the target species. I use three rods on a pier or breakwater if there is room.

Thanks for your replies.

I fish a Species Hunt with a club that applies the two rods three hooks match rule as if it is a one year long match.
Another hunt is not restricted, it's a year spent pleasure fishing and recording each new species caught.
This forum species hunt is fished this way.

When pleasure fishing I will normally fish a three hook scratching rig, a one or two hook 'distance' rig and, if fishing from a pier or harbour, a float fishing itself in the tide. If there are shoals of bait fish I'll use a string of six sabiki type lures. Sometimes if it's quiet I'll do some lure fishing with the third rod.

The club seems intent on keeping the match rules so it probably won't bother this year, it puts me at a big disadvantage in the unlimited hook hunts.
