Advice New Rods Advice Needed

Have a look at the Daiwa range of rods, excellent bang for buck, and they have been around longer than most. 🎣

Thanks @wingnut55 I did have a look at the Daiwa Tournament Pros that you purchased recently but it says they're rung for multi but I'm on FS 😕 are there any rods in their range of similar quality that you could recommend for FS?

You can use mangles on multi rung rods, but not the other way round. Daiwa do the Tournament HT Surf's, rung for mangles, but they are three piece rods. Or some makers do Hybrid rods, rung for both Multi and Mangle which the Fireblade is. (y)

That's interesting about using FS on multi rung rods, I was not aware of that was a thing 🤔 I definitely want to go the 2 piece route otherwise that Daiwa Tournament HT looks a great bit of kit. Cheers Ian 👍

If you want a UK style 2pce rod then I advise you buy from a UK maker ie not just a brand with a lot of sales blurb, smoke and mirrors BS importing from the far East and enjoying big margins. Look at Century/Zziplex, Daiwa Sports UK and Harrison if I were you.
New Fireblades notwithstanding, quality 2nd hand rods can be absolute bargains.

No point in me chucking in my twopenneth - 2x old Glass 12ft beachcasters & 2x 3 section 15ft Conti rods here.
You can't go far wrong with @Topwater's suggestions.

I'd go with the fireblades if i was you . Purely for the after sales service you get from century . I own a few century rods and have called on century a couple of times for repairs and they are a pleasure to deal with . Cant comment on the fireblades as i dont own one but never heard anyone slag them off .

Just buy best you can afford and enjoy the fishing and you cannot go wrong, lot of rods out there that will do the job, some quality others not but will work all a bit like cars really.

I'd go for a lightly used century T800/900, or maybe Zziples M4 GT, or a new Fireblade GT. If for nothing else if they don't suit you you'll loose next to nothing on them. Also from a resale point of view the 14ft fireblade is slightly better at holding it's value. The minute you walk out of the shop with the tronix you have lost half it's value, which of course counts for diddly squat if the rod suits you.

Also if anyone has any alternative suggestions to the Blackouts, I'm looking for a 2 piece with some back bone, preferably with a glass tip for clean to mixed ground that can handle rays and hounds but also not be a broom stick when fishing for flatties, whiting and doggies. Im after something that has room to grow with me as I hopefully improve at casting etc. In an ideal world I want to buy once and keep them for a good few years. Recommendations would be great cheers
I am sure the fish don't care what rod/reel you use.

Oh yes you can - oh no you can't - dam it's not Christmas panto time yet

Out of curiosity does anyone have experience with Century Graphex Super Match rods? Also what would be a reasonable offer on a secondhand pair in mint condition?

You may need a mortgage or large overdraft to buy them.;) Or blow your hard earned savings.

You're probably right lol I've seen a set for sale but don't want to insult the guy by offering half what they're worth.

Start by using a Henry Cole - what are you thinking cost wise, then reduce from there.

Could invest in x1 quality used rod and ease into things using or loosing half the bait and terminal tackle initially and perfect things whilst adding to remainder to buy a second matching rod later if impressed or even needed.

Sell him yours Mike, you cant bend em.. 🤣 🤣
