Fixed spool on a multiplier rod

Never had any bother with braid to braid knot and never even consider knot position when casting, unlike mono on multi been hard on thum. Don’t use mono on fs for shore fishing though.🤷🏽‍♂️

Braid to braid will create a tiny knot so not as bad, but i still do it when spombing etc for carp fishing.

Actually it takes a few seconds, you slack the drag as the leader knot arrives, put a finger onto the bail arm to keep.it in the right position and turn the handle, by doing that the bail arm travels to the bottom of the spool, tighten drag and it's done takes no time once you have the knack.
Perish the thought that you did not have a quick drag facility on yer reel or that "few seconds" would grow arms and legs, never mind a fish in the surf or undertow, worse still one, two or three blooming eels doing their best to eff up your prize Sunday best 3 hook rig.

I think he meant do it if there was no fish on, otherwise, sort it afterwards.

IMO the best character and best acted in all the Star Trek genres

But back to OP... yes can use FS on conventional rod...
........Just be aware where you put the leader knot... and don't ask me where.... :)

It seems you'll finally know BUT just in case here you go 🫣
I have been putting the knot there as long as I can remember... it was all about the confusion/ semantics that started this whole thing...

I do heavy surfcasting with big baits and weights etc.. use FG knot for 50lb braid to 180lb braid in some setups..even with braid to braid we Still put the knot at the back of the spool to avoid the line coming of the spool catching on the stiffer knot section.

and we use casting cannons... save our delicate hands :)

On the subject of big baits - saw this overly dramatised fishing session today - they used a kayak to drop big baits far out (on other videos I've seen the use of drones to do the same).

Yep common practice.. especially for catching sharks in SA and you see alot in Texas.

Use big conventional reels to fight big sharks with harness and bait can be dropped 1000yds out

Also use specialised remote control boats (unsinkable and self righting) go thru the surf and drop baits of and return back to beach.. pretty neat

Re big sharks.. video of Xander from zoolook fishing.. targeting raggies and bronzies gets hooked into a great white... just peels of the line..no stopping it...had to break it off..illegal to catch them anyway

The top of the food chain in rc bait boats is the aquacat from South Africa.. can carry payload of 20lbs through huge surf..

Check out clips of it going through the surf..

Perfect! tfft
Of course you can join using hollow core and if braid to braid then stitch the braid together (an SA thing) then can put it anywhere... at worst case would save 4 pages of discussion.... hahahaha
