New headlamp arrived

Never did that.No wonder I didn't catch much. ?
My local marks are either rocks or beaches where you need to be constantly moving. That’s what I grew up fishing.

Nothing like the south coast where the tide moves three feet a year and you can set up your tent and have a Tilley on a pole to light up your pitch.

I rember a mate having one of those 500 candle power pressure lamps on a long pole , i think he had some kind of reflector on the lamp , that put out a great light with a good part of the beach lit up , I have quite a powerful head light but it just doesn,t feel the same as the old days, Years ago eight blokes walked on the beach caring a petrol generator with a 500 watt lamp and fished next to me on spurn point, that was bright but the trouble is half way through the session the bulb blew and they didn,t have a torch so the could put a fresh bulb in, good job i had a lamp.

Have to say, I don’t miss pressure lamps at all.
They gave an illusion of warmth without really warming anything.
The hiss and the soft pool of warm light was nice (even though the light never really reached far enough to see your rod tips) but the cons outweighed the pros for me.

In some ways, I think the advent of affordable LED lights has transformed sea fishing. Even a tenner will be enough to get you fishing (although something more reliable is advisable!)

And as I said, most of my fishing with Tilleys etc was on rock marks in a very extreme tidal area, so there was no setting up a nice comfy shingle beach pitch with a tent and all the trimmings.

Haha, a petrol gennie and no back up torch, that’s pretty crazy!

I still have a Coleman pressure lamp and I do light it occasionally just to keep the memory alive, can’t beat a led headlamp though

Years back every one had some sort of pressure lamp, it seemed more cosy with the beach lit up than lights we have now, progress, make your mind up on that one
hard standing in the surf holding a rod and a pressure lamp. then lighting it up when you want to rebait. Or clambouring down cliffs or any number of other things. The world has progressed in my mind

I get the same feeling. I lo/e the dark, especially lure fishing or light bait fishing when you hae waded out a ways and you are holding your rod. The sense of isolation is liberating
Just like being sent to Coventry then - just jesting, yes silly response.:p

They where young daft kids but i,m a bit jumpy any way so when there light went out one of them touched me on my shoulder from be hind me and i nearly jumped out of my skin, he said can you shine your light so we can change the bulb please.

L\/ierpool is not half as grim as the midlands. The fishing is pretty good e\/en in the centre and you only ha\/e to step outside the city for some decent coastline
As long as they don't nick your gear.

While your all still self abusing yourself or each other!!! Or the likes of LED lights got some Nightsearcher NSHT255R's for around £8 each did post on other place about them some bought them.
Great little unit option of beam or diffused and a red light with same options https://shop.nightsearcher.com/product/NSHT255R

Knocking them out at £19-95 now Gary even on their bay site.
It says reduced from £53.95 on Tourno's website link, so if correct, that is still a fairly good price.
