Is there any other rigs that work well for smooth hound and spur dog fishing? I currently and always use pulley pennel rigs with 3/0 & 4/0 hooks.

Neither are the most discerning of fish so any rig you’re confident in really.
Spurs have good teeth though (!) so best to use a thick mono trace!

If its crabby, hounds will hit anything when about in numbers , along with squid or ragworm etc, so I can’t say I’ve noticed lost fish from using pulley rigs, which is what I use as they’re easy to tie.

Thanks so much for the reply, that makes sense

I seem to remember spur's are very partial to Hermit crabs if you can get hold of them.
