I want to fit a coaster over the reel seat on my century t900- does anyone know what size I'll need to do so.

It's the original sliding reel seat I will be using.

Am I right to assume once fitted and tightened the reel seat should stay in place?

Thanks

I tend to put tea/coffee on our coasters - sorry couldn't resist ;)

Century used to do their own reel seats with coasters fitted, but they don't seam to do them anymore for some reason. :(

Tronixpro do one very similar with coaster fitted.

Ian.

T900 uses a 27mm reel seat.
People fail to notice that the butt diameter on their website is measured at the decal.
You will need a 30mm coaster to fit over the reel seat and tighten down to hold it in place.
As a side note be aware the new seats have the slot cut differently to the old one and not sure the coaster will sit in the right place to squeeze the tab onto the shrink. So it may be trial and error.

The reel seats that came with my T900's but not sure if they are 25 or 26mm but either way that's a breakaway 30mm coaster wound up very tight and I have grip tape either side of the seat and it doesn't move at all.

Funnily enough I sent century an email just for clarity, and to double check.
According to them they fit a 26mm reel seat and they confirmed I would need a 30mm coaster.
What grip tape have you used there please

It's Mercian super soft grip, used on cricket bats, tennis rackets etc and is available in various colours.

There are several different sliding seat designs, not all require a coaster.
My Penn & ABU have taper screws at each end which tighten to the butt & don't require a coaster,
The DPS/Fuji design has "tongue flap" cut lengthways which is squeezed down by the reel foot, & should not need a coaster, I think Century did use these at some point,
my Century version has a U shape cut out just in front of the fixed foot seat which is squeezed by a coaster, Tronix use a similar design.

Yes, once tightened they have a solid grip.

I have found out that a large FS like a bulls eye can overcome some of the makes of sliding reel seats which is a PIA. I went for the tronixpro but then replaced the coaster with a "proper" one from breakaway 'cos the tronx one hurt my girly finger.

Iv had a few sessions out now with the t900 and the penn casting specials. I can do the reel seats up tight enough so they don't move up and down, but they do move around left to right with minimal force. I'm waiting for some coasters to be delivered to see if this fixes it

Just put a small twist of sparky tape under it
