Ugly Stick, your thoughts please.

???? I had a bet with myself you’d post something along them lines

He is however, 100% correct, no such thing as a 20/30 or 12/20 or 30/50 can exist. Line classes all started based on east coast USA standards back in the 20`s - 30``s (Florida). As a reasonable guide it was taken that the rod would bend to 90 degrees, tip to butt at around 2/3rds of the stated line class. As a simple example a 30lb rod would bend to 90 degrees as 2/3rds of 30, i.e. 20lb. Given the modern shit that would suggest that a 30/50 would bend to 90 degress at 20lb and also at 33lb, that`s a good trick. These were trolling rods. Then came the stand up rods or short strokers, they were a tad lighter and bent to 90 degrees around 1/2 of the line class so a 30 bent at roughly 15lb. Shaky in their wisdom even came up with a 30 - 80lb. Load of toss.

I'm currently using a 4ft kayak 10/15lb ugly stick with an okuma classic level wind and it's absolutely fantastic bringing fish up and so much fun even small fish band the life out of it. I've had cod up to 11lb and a 18lb ling on it like I said great fun and highly recommend it??
