South Coast Spots!

🤣🤣🤣 we’ll be heading off to Soroya, from Heathrow - honest governor!

I’m sure the halibut fishing will be to its usual excellent standard. Plus I’ll be quite disappointed tbh if we don’t get a 10lb+ plaice having had them from 5.5 - 7.75lb in just one 3-4 hour session in not ideal drifting conditions. Nice thing too was we had halibut at the same time so can step up the baits or lures for the halibut once the novelty of catching 5lb+ plaice wears off😉

Thats the one......... a 10lb plaice and I can shuffle of this Mortal Coil a happy man until then I can dream and keep trying.
The humble plaice has been a species that I have been fascinated with since I was a kid, dont know why but I love them even the slightest chance of getting one will be enough to keep me going back I expect so when Nigel said hes had whoppers then it was inevitable I would want to go. I know its the Halibut capital of the world but frankly they will be a sideshow for me its the big spotty I crave. Lets hope we see one and I will easily be happy with anything over 5lb because a new PB of your favourite species is exciting enough as it is.

North east side again Nigel? Where you’ve been previously with Nick?

Definitely better flattie fishing that side by the looks. We found plaice but nothing that big.
Although didn’t try for them in our halibut bay, so that might be one for next time!

Yes, that’s right. Better than Havoysund and Hasvik as those both have about 1.5-1.75 hours steam to the halibut honey pot areas and only about 25 mins for us.

Are you back to Hasvik this year or elsewhere in Norway?

7.75 plaice..... feck the halibobs!

5lb plaice to match the door mat of a sole you had nice
Be bloody nice to find another sole like that one day..... I reckon it took me 250 sole to get that one.
Last year I did not break the 2lb barrier..... same with any flats from the shore nowt over 1.14 but I am optimistic this year.
One of the big netting boats has mo.ved to North Devon so hopefully we will see a few more.
Still reckon Brighton may throw up a few better ones, fingers crossed.
