Hey everyone thanks for the warm welcome to forum its appreciated. As in my introduction post I'm new to beach fishing and looking at getting some better gear together. I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a pair of Tronixpro Competion Blackout rods. I know from reading through the forum that there are alot of Century, Zipplex etc fans here (understandably as quality gear). I've notice a bit of backlash against brands like Tronixpro. Wondering if there are genuine reasons for this like poor quality finish, rods breaking etc or is it just that people like the brands they know and love and avoid other brands like Tronixpro? All views and advice welcome cheers 🙂

Also if anyone has any alternative suggestions to the Blackouts, I'm looking for a 2 piece with some back bone, preferably with a glass tip for clean to mixed ground that can handle rays and hounds but also not be a broom stick when fishing for flatties, whiting and doggies. Im after something that has room to grow with me as I hopefully improve at casting etc. In an ideal world I want to buy once and keep them for a good few years. Recommendations would be great cheers

Feck me they are ££££

I'd be buying a 2nd hand pair of century/zziplex/daiwa/conoflex for that kind of money

Yeah they are a few quid I agree and I have been searching everywhere for secondhand Century rods that are in my price range but what keeps going around my head is if I buy new and they break on my first trip out I have a warranty. If I buy secondhand and they break I'm buggered lol

Out of interest, what are you upgrading from?

Century fireblades
Funnily enough the Fireblade GTs are the other rod I've been looking at Ollie. £275 per rod but if you pay a premium for Century rods does that mean that its a £200 rod with a £75 Century lable or is it really £275 worth of rod if that makes sense? I'm probably overthinking it as normal lol

It's not really a premium, more paying for years of R&D and after sales care.

@Shirleycodlin I currently have an old Abu Ambassador Elite hand me down from my father in law which he gave me to get started. I also have a Blackrock Foosa ZZ4500 conti rod which is ok but a little bit 'stick of rhubarb' (I've decided to steer clear of conti rods now)

Thanks @J Richards I'll see if I can find some Fireblade GTs in stock somewhere so I can get hands on and see how they feel 👍

Has anyone here got the Fireblades? Or maybe had a try of one?
