Currently carping

So with spring in the air and my boys down for Easter, the son and I decided to try for some carp. We headed down to our local pond for a few hours this morning armed with a bag of boilies and a tub of pellets. We both were using our little 9ft rods with 1.1oz leads and braided hooklinks. I chose to fish pva bags into open water, while my boy fished 4 bait stringers to marginal reeds. My boy was first off the mark with a 13lb common View attachment 42492he then had another slow take which produced a corker of a common View attachment 42493at 26lb 5oz it was a new pb common carp! I had a 6lb common while the 20 was in the net, so I quickly unhooked it and let it go. The boy then had another take which turned out to be an 11lb common View attachment 42494swiftly followed by another 11lb common View attachment 42495we gave it another 30min then called it a day.
Well done nice session (y)

He’s certainly putting the time in, he deserves the results
He pretty much lives on the bank of rivers or lakes. Even during the week when working he will fish over night and be back at 6am showered and ready for work. I dont know how he does it, oh to be young and full of energy.

I remember when I used to do that! 🙄 I used to do a night, chuck the gear in the car, drive to work, have a shower, get my uniform on, do a days work then change into the carp gear, drive back to the lake and set up again! I also used to finish work at 5pm, hit the road, drive from tidworth to Southampton, do a 5hr session on the beach, drive back, go to sleep then be ready for work at 8am the next morning.

Madness

Good to see some nice ones above guys.

A late one from me , a 2 night session I did on the 12th and 13th of March before the end of the close season , because its a sssi site traditional close season applies.
18 acres of snags islands and weed .

A mile and a bit walk from the car park with wheelbarrow meant I was the only person on there for the whole time apart from pike anglers spinning.
It's a mixed wildish fishery not a carp lake so is pretty tough. Was on around 12 or 14 blank nights since my last carp from here before this trip.

Interesting weather was pissing down and massive winds trees 🌳 falling etc and to top it off I was right between a river and 2 other lakes which were slowly flooding !! No sleep the first night in case I had to move sharpish !20230314_150346.jpg
Managed 7 tench to 7lbs 4oz and 2 carp coming in at 25lbs and 22lbs .
Great conditioned fish, The mirror in particular was perfect and an orange sized mouth that was totally undamaged.

Really really chuffed with the result .

Nice report & photos Had1! Well done for sticking that out in the bad weather. 🎣🎣👍👍

Beautiful Mirror Carp. Even though I don't fish fresh water, I had an 18" Mirror in the large Garden pond at my old cottage - pretty fish.

Went to the 70/80 acre lake over the weekend had a full bag of weather again ,torrential rain , sun , temperatures of low as 2 and high as 16 . Very deep lake think a lot of fish are up near the surface chasing the warmer water . Had 3 out to 18lbs though all on the 1st night and morning then nothing.
Nice takeaway to the gate too 👌🏻
