Currently carping

I think if you scale the leads/hooks correctly to the rods (like you have) it could be an edge. I only own 3 3/4 tc rods, so sticking a 1oz lead on it would be stupid 🤣.
I have thought about getting 9/10fts but i just know i wouldnt use them.

I got them so I can sling them in the boot for travel, but I’ve been drawn to them for quick day sessions now too. They are great fun to play fish on, I’ve got my eye on a couple of new venues, a canal, a river and a drain, all with good heads of carp in them, they will be perfect for that. Mind you, the baby is due in a few weeks, so I might not get too much fishing in for a while.

Where in the country are you bud?
Good luck with the liitle one mate, hope it goes smoothly.

Set up last evening in savage driving rain at the end of a big south westerly on the 80 acre .
Fishing the margins in about 20 25foot of water had a low double common in the evening with a funny long fin .
Winds picked up smashing into this corner and just had a double take 24lbs and 18 mirrors , only got 1 net with me so they both came ashore.

Grey and cold day just set up on the same lake as last time I posted on here above ... 2 out about 70 yards on a 'shallow' 20foot bit with 35 feet around it .
Other one down the edge in about 10 foot.

Lots of activity after dark mainly bream jumping but few carp also. Herons flying over from the marshes behind and birds tweeting still .
Just had a nice low double mirror, as it's an older resident from a stocking in the 90s probably, got a photo but came out a bit crap my camera still blurry at night lol.

Chilly our out now

So with spring in the air and my boys down for Easter, the son and I decided to try for some carp. We headed down to our local pond for a few hours this morning armed with a bag of boilies and a tub of pellets. We both were using our little 9ft rods with 1.1oz leads and braided hooklinks. I chose to fish pva bags into open water, while my boy fished 4 bait stringers to marginal reeds. My boy was first off the mark with a 13lb common 6E628166-DC95-4B6B-B84A-2D9C1A4C73EA.jpeghe then had another slow take which produced a corker of a common 09BA7C16-83BB-4E07-A5BE-87D39B3D2660.jpegat 26lb 5oz it was a new pb common carp! I had a 6lb common while the 20 was in the net, so I quickly unhooked it and let it go. The boy then had another take which turned out to be an 11lb common EBA607EA-B603-45C0-8A68-79B8C8423FC4.jpegswiftly followed by another 11lb common 3EC47978-E0BF-4601-A19B-E5573CC24ADA.jpegwe gave it another 30min then called it a day.
