I’m on the lookout for 2, either Zziplex or Century rods for fishing clean ground beaches and some pier fishing. Target species will be flounder, bass and whiting. Locations will be cefn sidan, pembrey, Gower, Swansea bay, etc. Casting 3 to 5 ounce plus bait. I like a slim light rod.

Zziplex profile GT or EVO (carbon tip) are in the mix. Unsure which tip to go for. Also Century Supermatch Graphex LD or another Century rod any of you would recommend would also be considered. I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

Shimano XTB long cast 14000 bait runner is also being considered to complete the outfit, loaded with braided line

A larger rod for Tope will be considered at a later stage.

Thank you

Welocme to the Madhouse Sewinboy! 👍👍

Unable to help with advice - Century & Zziplex are way out of reach of my OAP pockets!

Welcome . I've got a century Tip tornado graphex supermatch for sale at the moment if that's any good for you

It's a welcome from me as well (y)

Hi and welcome..... what gear do you use at the moment?

Hi Chesilpete

At the moment, I have no sea fishing gear. I have fished the rivers for Sewin and salmon for 40 years, using bait, lures and fly. The Sewin runs have fallen off a cliff and I live on the Lougher estuary, so really should take up sea fishing.

Right away you have hampered yourself by limiting your choice to two manufacturers when in fact many continental rods will be a far better choice lighter more responsive better bite detection etc

On the subject of Continental rods, I came across a local company this morning I'd not seen before, supplying a range of rods said to be hand crafted by Altico in Italy. They aren't cheap, but most offer a choice of Fuji Alconite-K or BNOG rings.

If I was you I’du

if I was you I’d nip into the tackle shop in station road Llanelli and have a chat with them I used to live and fish all the areas you mentioned, you get some strong currents around there, river lougher has a good reputation for flounders , as I’ve sied I was brought up fishing that area the rod I suggest would be a century t800 it’s ideal for that area but I’d also suggest you buy another rod that’s a bit more powerful when conditions change have a look at the afaw range of rods and chat to local anglers
