Circle hooks

'Mackerel and squid and let it flutter' is what they were designed for. Plenty of perfectly good hooks designed for worms or sandeels available. Horses for courses and all that.

That’s what I suspected, ie they have their place but the shape limits the range of baits you might use on them?
 
I have never got on with circle hooks on their own, but as the top hook on a pennell, they are awesome!
Been using as a top hook for a good few years now and nearly all of the fish are hooked in the scissors on the circle hook.
