South Coast Chesil Saturday.

Cheers chaps, all the plaice were carefully unhooked through the Gills and returned after a quick picture. They weren't in terrible condition but still very thin, especially the bigger fish. Another couple of months and they will be nice and thick.

Curious! I bet they're wetting themselves in anticipation.Get back to the Chesil report.Well done squidword. (y)
Ah, we’ve done all that - on to the bondage now! ???

Haha, no, that was a good plaice session from Squiddy.

@squidword how do you avoid the spiders stripping the bait?
My problem with the damned things is not so much losing hooks, as the bait not staying on long enough to actually do any good!
Do you load up on the bait?

Keeping the lead moving helps stop the crabs, multi hook rigs also helps. Often get a crab plaice double shot. Tip with tougher baits, small pieces of black lug, crab etc whipped tight to your hook helps. Don't leave baits for very long if spiders are active, it's hard work but fresh baits every 10 minutes or so. I don't very often use grip leads, but an older style lead that holds when the line is tight but moves when you slacken off.

Cracking session and nice pics Squidword. That first one will be a right old beast once it has put some weight on.
