Butt caps to accept a reducer.

Hi all,

Can anyone help with sourcing a butt cap that will accept a reducer, looking for one with a 26mm internal diameter and 22mm hole for the reducer. Like the picture below. No joy looking online.

Never seen one. Just get a 26mm butt cap and make one

As Stan says make one. 22mm hole cutter drill bit is what you want. Preferably new and sharp! Mount the cap on a suitable dowel or old blank offcut and secure in a vice. Set your drill to full speed and dont attempt to core it out in one go but do 3 or 4 shallow passes, stopping to clean both the bit and the cut of all the dross. Clean up with sandpaper. Made several over the years

My mate uses the rubber cap that goes on the bottom of a walking stick.

I just drill out the bottom of the butt cap , I’ve done it to all my rods , if you can’t get a big enough drill then use a stanly knife

Should fit nicely..

If I'm using a reducer, I just take off the existing cap
put it back on when I take off the reducer.

If I'm honest it never occurred to me to cut a hole for the reducer,
might have to knock something up on the lathe.

Well obviously the way to go is get a butt cap and drill it out as mentioned. Thanks all.
