Yep. Hate the measuring fad. I get that lure anglers often want a quick measure and release but you think ‘oh 50cm that ain’t bad’ then you realise it’s about 3lb lol.
But I appreciate usually they want to get the fish back quick.

What really gets me though is when plaice and every fish caught is in cm.
Wtf is a 26cm plaice? You think that sounds alright then realise it’s only just over a pound (or whatever).

I need weights! I can’t really appreciate the fish otherwise lol

We do like a quick measure of bass for 2 reasons to see how big it is and to see if it’s legal

I only take them when they’re around 3-4.5lb (just my personal preference) so never worry about measuring.
I almost never measure fish. If I don’t have a weight, the number doesn’t make much sense to me.

But then I don’t lure fish so I can see it would be easier if you’re staying mobile.

I fill my freezer up in the Autumm..... but wont take a bass under 2.5lb.
I love eating fresh fish and therefore will without any guilt whack em.
Usually I have loads of sole by now but this year I have just not really got on them.... the plaice have been prolific but small.... so its bass n cod and in a few weeks when the big ting turn up they will also get the treatment.
I do like a big ting.....
I make no apologies for whacking fish even bass, although the big girls always go back, I will keep codling just in size if they are deep hooked.
This sport or ours has a product and I enjoy it.
I have stopped using big catfish hooks for bass, the fatalities were high they hooks were twisting into the roof of the mouth and killing them stone cold dead.

I didnt catch enough to measure them….. until about 3 sessions ago……. Now ive caught loads lol biggest 8lb 6 ??
We are out mob handed again J gray tom n me are headed to the cottages arriving about 4pm.
Anyone else wants to drop in next to us then drop a message.... all welcome.

I only take a fish if I can eat it fresh, I don’t freeze my fish , just mackerel for bait

Agree Pete. I fish to catch to eat. Fine by me if folk want to catch big Hounds, Rays etc. and go Tiddler fiddling, but I'm not interested if they are not good eating.
I was hoping to head slightly East a few months ago in search of Plaice, (love Plaice! ??) but the way those marks have been fishing, somewhat glad I didn't waste my fuel & time.
