Akios S-Line 656 csm shuttle

Mh, I'm not arguing with that, BUT seems Sharky IIIs were not exactly cheapy cheap when launched and still not cheapy cheap from some sellers. There are some really good reviews indicated they are a great value reel but unfortunately mine seems to have an issue but maybe not really an issue if it is just a bit of over-lubing ? What else might it be though ?
Did you grease or oil them?

Nope, haven't touched innards other than remove spool to check out the mech's. I'm now in touch with Kastking support & I'll wait see what they say, but thinkin to dismantle drag brake in case over oiled or contaminated with grease and redo. Some so-called "reel oil" on order.

What is the matter with level wind reels please ? No immediate concern any more but the Akios I first considered had a level wind system and why might I would I avoid in future?
My first beach reel was an ABU 6001 with a level wind, & I found it very helpful for the first half season, until it broke.
But they just aren't designed to cope with the speed the spool spins when you welly a cast, so they rob power, make a racket as they fly back & forth across the spool, & can cause a nasty injury to a finger. I repaired it & continued using the reel for up-tiding without issue.

You need someone to teach you how to cast with a multiplier, and to accept that they will bite if you get too cocky,
most beginners just try to run them way too fast.

If I tighten it up, it locks the roller up solid. Reel is now confined to the box of unuseable gear. Rod = great, reel = crap. Grauvell went bust shortly after, so no spares/warranty available.
I assume you tried using decent thread lock so you can back the screw off half a turn to release the roller.

I personally don’t see the need for a level wind multiplier for beach casting they create more problems than nessery
I completely agree, but as a total newby to multipliers you don't have to worry about line lay,
so if I was teaching someone from scratch the first part of the lesson would be gentle casts with a level wind.

If it's just the drag that is the issue, it's worth a good clean and a new set of Carbontex washers.

I did similar - bought a new Grauvell Vertix continental rod (loved it & still do) so also bought a Vertix 8000 FS reel for it. Wasn't cheap at near £80.
Couple of trips out with it and the screw securing the Bale arm roller came loose. If I tighten it up, it locks the roller up solid. Reel is now confined to the box of unuseable gear. Rod = great, reel = crap. Grauvell went bust shortly after, so no spares/warranty available.
Reel not much used so not renewed the high kg drag carbon brake washers. Gave brake parts a good clean and very light re-oiling. Used PC screen-cleaning wipes to clean out as not sure what best to wipe-off carbon washers with. Whatever - result! Spool spinning nice and free on minimum drag now but one niggle with the drag adjuster knob. The drag-clicker spring on the drag adjuster knob doesn't always snug-up nice and level into the upper clicker ring on the brake when reel spool and drag adjuster re-installed. I'm not the only one to notice this (web searches) but no big deal because a bit of light finger pressure either side of drag adjuster knob levels it out. Kastking Support - I didn't take up their offer to telephone their reel-expert in New York (what would that have cost me ?), but support was friendly and very prompt. Shame about the sticky drag experience but I'm now happy with the reel as it runs very very smooth for discounted price of just under £30 delivered. :):) [Edit: can't 100% recommend though because of the temperamental drag knob clicker mechanics.]
