Never used a multi Grinner. I have a wee RHW Abu multipier that I thought I would use on the river for salmon spinning but didn't get on with it.
Life on the river was with fixed spools so that got transferred to my sea fishing.
The stable curently contains a couple of old Daiwa Emblem 4500t, two okuma 8k surf, two shimano speedcast 1400 xsb and a shimank aerlex 8000xsa.
I am pondering a penn spinfisher lc.

I use both ,for the beach I use ,power areo and ultrga c14 1400 ,7ht mags ,akios shuttles, and when it starts to get a bit rough I use fathoms 15 and when its allout rough and need heavy hauling I use diawa bg8000, penn spinfisher 9500,cabo80 so all my needs are covered, 17 different reels

Multipliers on the boat, small bait caster for drop shot type stuff. Not had a go with a casting multiplier but it's on my list of things to do this year.

Have a question, do casting multipliers use level wind or is this a matter of preference to the user (sorry if it's a novice question but I'm into new territory here). Recommendations for a sub £75 starter to try it out appreciated.

edit: Diawa SL30SH seems to feature in a number of videos I've seen.

Those are for the big rods, I have a shimano aernos, daiwa ninja for spinning and a shimano hyperloop for the lrf.

bg 8000 is a big lump that's what puts me of some of the fixed spools get to become just a bit unwieldly
I only use when conditions make useing a multi pointless, loaded up with 60lb braid 100lb leader ,its not really a big lump tobe honest it's a great reel ,

From the smallest, cabo80,diawa bg8000, penn spinfisher 9500

I always use multies day & night, from Abu 5000, 5500c (1970's build) and 6500 size when the weather is not so good.
Only use 2000 or Abu 174 size coffee grinders for mullet in the tidal rivers. Always Daiwa Sensor mono on all reels (various breaking strains)

I find with the bigger fixed spools they just don't feel right on the rod unbalanced even reel down that reel is about 30oz you know it's there soon as you pick the rod up
I suppose I might feel that way using a multiplier in that i would not be used to using them. Using a FS on any rod is second nature.
