Ultimate fixed spool reel

I don't think there is such a thing as "the ultimate fixed spool reel" or the ultimate rod, or the ultimate anything else.
Like a lot of things, fishing tackle is subjective, and all a matter of personal taste & experience.
I bought a Mitchell Blue water RZ 9000 when I couldn't get a Penn surfblaster during Covid - it's been a great reel, and I now have 2 surfblasters as well. All come from the Pure Fishing stable anyway.
That doesn't mean reels by Shimano, Daiwa, Okuma or any other manufacturer are crap - I'm just happy with what I've got, as a lot of us probably are.
In fact, I have 3 smaller cheap Shimano spinning reels for lure rods, and they have been good too.

With time I'm looking to go with the power aeros, aero techs would be too scared to drop them or mark them :ROFLMAO: for now I use daiwa emblem 5000Ts, the made in Japan version, which have been given some serious grief and still standing, and can be had for £30-40 second hand. Also have a shimano speedmaster and penn surfblaster 2 that are my light braid fixed spools when I'm not using my multis for max distance.

I think there are ultimate fixed spool reels (for a particular kind of fishing) and it's basically the top of the range options. It comes down to how big are your pockets are and are you willing to empty them 😋

I can't recommend the spin fisher lc enough. Such a brute of a reel. But I would go to the 6000 for beach fishing as the 7500 is over engineered. 40kg amberjacks and 150kg sting rays on the 7500. The kit we fish in the Uk is nearly always overkill. - for dogs and pout anway

I’d say the power aero is the Best all rounder imo, not sure I would call it the ultimate fixed spool though..
Perfect line lay, no flexing under load, good for distance casting and can handle rough ground fishing. only downside for me is the handle

What about the handle don't you like?

I've got a Shimano Ultegra that I really like but I haven't used it enough to give it a proper review yet.
Only really used them for carp fishing. Smooth and bullet proof ci4+ about half the weight of the standard. But makes no difference when your not holding your rod all day. Probably a benefit on a heavier sea rod for balance. You would have to pay serious money for a better reel IMHO.

Mid priced best bang for your buck.

The Stellas and Saltigas are just over £1k so would you say £500 is mid priced?

P.S. I made the mistake of holding a Saltiga and since then everything else seems lame 😒
@crablante You can pick up a Saltiga for the bargain price of £517 with discount code PAY10 🤣
