Advice Wot size reel

You might be right just done £400 on two 2nd hand rods might be pushing it a bit with the misses she might even take away permission to bust my happy plaice ??
Got a Shimano smallish FS here spare spool also rear drag with lever on it to adjust! it's not too small either i used to use for float/light fishing on my Century Scratcher it's sort of baitrunner 8000 size not big reel 8000

Now you’ve started it I run with a pair of ultragras and now think the 5500 size whould look nice in me collection but I can’t put a£150 reel on a£50 rod can I ???maybe need to go a bit higher end ???
You can have my shakey bass for £200 if you want, even things up a bit

Rear drag with leaver whould be good sure I’ve used one before and liked the idear think it was a Penn reel of sone Description??

If it’s for fairly occasional use I don’t think I’d be too fussed about the reel, something around the £40/50 would be fine imo
For just occasional use, I'd be looking at Mitchell - the new MX1 & Tanager reels look good. The MX1's range from 2000 to 7000 size.

The Bluewater range are good too. I bought a Bluewater RZ 9000 a few months back and very pleased with it for the money. Mitchell are part of Pure fishing who also own Abu & Penn, so there's a bit of a pedigree there!

As far as I know, the Baitrunner reels that I have seen are front main drag, the knob at the rear is to set the drag on the baitrunner function, and the lever switches the baitrunner function on or off?

I've got an Okuma, something like this:
