Start to look at the number that can build beach, carp, pike, trout fly, salmon fly, tench, boat, up-tide, stand up, trolling and then for good measure saltwater fly and specialist for tarpon and then down the scale to 2# nymph.

"Them" is Alba rods who apparently built it, I bought it off ebay years ago, mainly for the telescopic butt, so know nothing about "them"
Yep that simple mono colour whipping is much more my thing, rods & reels are tools to do a job not art works to look at.

Yep, I'd guessed he either was (or had worked for) them, but that has nothing to do with liking/not liking flashy whipping.
It's like shotguns being covered in fancy engraving, just not my cup of tea.

Well it would make finding yours in a carpark challenging
Nothing wrong with colours, I just don't personally like ostentatious "bling".
