A blast from the past, who remembers these iconic reels, I had a pair of these when they first came out, then bought the conversion kits to remove the level winds. They were such a pleasure to use, and set some records on the field with Paul Kerry I do believe.

Acquired these and converted them with kits from Russ (Blakdog Tackle). Many thanks Russ on your superb service as usual.

The Iconic Daiwa Millionaire 6HM. Came to our shores in 1981 or thereabouts.

Just need to plug the holes left after thr removal of the top bar, plugs also supplied by Russ. (y)

I've never seen them before, but I don't use multiplier reels.

I would have been about 1 year old when they came out Ian 😁
They were the reels to have in those days, but you did have to butcher them.;)

Before being converted.

Ian.
They look like nice reels mate. Do you still use them? I think it was about that time my Dad got an Abu 6500 that he still has now (he doesn't use it now though).

Just finished converting the four I have, took one to the beach yesterday with one of my Bullet Hi-Flexes, they are still very good casting reels, and bring back good memories from 40 odd years ago.

They were designed to put right the little niggles that came with the ABU 5 and 6ooo, great reels I converted mine myself made my own convesion bars from bronze, ended up making a lot for other people aswell.

Yes, one piece spools for a start. ;)

I had two of them that I had on my pair of Abu atlantic 144's.
I have a pair of Abu Atlantic Zoom rods in the shed, used to use them for Mackie bashing. Max 2oz weights. Used Abu low profile multi reels

Still use my Abu Suverans 13ft , great rods and stood the test of time ! Got four, 2 x 4oz to 6oz and 2 x 4oz to 8oz. beautiful tips on them and great fishing rods. A lot of the older rods still knock spots off the new super duper models, built to last and solid performance and cost a lot less than today's rods, think upcoming anglers would get much more benefit buying classic models rather than jumping in at the deep end having a modern lightweight scaffold pole with a mind bending price tag !
