What are some of the best fighting more powerful sea fish you can catch from shore around the UK.

I know nothing of surf fishing in UK waters

Shore caught tope record is around 82 lb

It is, but I think hounds are more of realistic target for most. Tope tend to be less in numbers and are limited to certain beaches and rocky out crops at certain times of the year. For me a sport fish is a fish that not only fights hard, but are there in numbers and can be targeted by anyone throughout a large part of the year. Otherwise you could just say why not skate? They go 200lb plus, much bigger than a tope but I wouldn't regard them as a sport fish as such.

Blue fin tuna! won't be long!

Bluefin tuna from shore will be very difficult.. need offshore tackle 130 reel and tuna rod with fighting harness.. and a way to get your bait out there , drone or canoe.. dont fancy it myself.. tough enough off a boat rigged for it.
