I recently posted in relation to my hunt for a new pair if rods and I'm now down to the Centurys ...

I'm after some input from people who use the rods above please, I've been looking for a new pair of rods for a while and like the sound of these but have been swaying between them ... I'm in no real rush and keen to get this right, I have a selection of rods for various fishing situations but for a few years now my favourite pair for a lot of my fishing were a pair of Team Daiwa Z Surf 12'6 's until one of the tips snapped when it dropped out the tripod (school boy error ??‍♂️) so the times come for another pair of rods, I've owned various Zippies, Daiwas, AFAWs and Centurys and have been having a look at the newer generation of Century's above which all look like they could do the job ...

The majority of my fishing is here on the Sussex coast where it is clean to mixed ground, using 5/6oz leads

I fish reel up, I cast pendulum although I'm not the biggest hitter on the beach so want something "easy" to cast if you know what I mean, basically a rod that's enjoyable to use and forgiving

I can be targeting Plaice one day then Stingers, Undulates and Hounds the next so great bite detection is extremely important as is the ability the pull in something decent ... I do like to err on the lighter side for the species I'm after to maximise sport ... yet if I opt for the Match or T800 will they cope if I venture on a road trip where the grounds a bit heavier ?

I spoke to Chris at Century recently about the TTSMG and T800 and was going to go for the Super Match but have thrown the Match and T800 in to the mix to get opinions, anyone on here find the TTSMG on the stiff side ?

As you can see I've been pretty specific here but like I said I'm no real rush so would rather get as many options as possible please and any input will help and be greatly appreciated

Thankyou

Tommy

Unfortunately most rods these days are on the stiff side and its only the tip that can make a difference . On the rods you've mentioned the the t900 is the most powerful and heavy . The TTSMG is light but as a lot of power and as a good fishing tip. The t800 is a nice match rod . All these rods are good rods but it depends what suits you. Try before you buy thats my advice

Decisions decisions Tommy you'll be giving yourself a headache lol
well the 3 you've mentioned are very similar only slight differences I've the ttsmg optimum 6oz it's got a little bit more in the lower third than the ttm optimum casting 5oz same as t800 both still cast 6oz not a problem but were you like to err on the lighter side I like to go the other way
the lighter way you might struggle on the more snaggy ground the tips are going to be a bit different the two tt are very tippy t800 more progressive they'll all do the job you're asking instead of a matching pair why not cover both options the ttsmg with either the ttmg or t800 just to give you more to think about lol
PS that's the ttsmg with about a 8lb Ray on to give you an idea of tipView attachment 4566
The bend in that rod is the reason I got myself 2 absolutely stunning rod to use I fish the solent and Chesil they will cover all my fishing and some I'm done buying rods now as I've found what I was looking for

the ttsmg is one of my favourites do like the graphex range very user friendly
I'd get away with the ttmg on my local beaches but went with the ttsmg for the same type of reason as Tommy I travel a fair bit as in that picture get strong tides not uncommon for double shots of Ray's hounds & good huss copes with it easy
Perfect thanks

I had the graphex matches sold them to a mate and brought the graphex super matches as to me the super matches are abit more of an all round rod the matches are brilliant lovely rods but to me if you where fishing and the weed turned up on mass like it can in places like the Solent the super matches would handle it much better this is just my opinion and I am no expert

our local shop once had demo rods to try not any more spending that type of money on 2 rods they should all give you the opportunity for a cast
100% agree mate just like golf shops have nets to try clubs you'd think a shop would try something like this they'd be inundated with people trying rods

Thanks mate yeah the TTSMG is looking the one
