Despite knowing the chances were slim I decide to have a last go at the sole as the conditions seemed good last weekend.

Well, I expected there to be loads of ting about and my cats weren’t to be disappointed. Treble shots on both rods on first cast set the tone.

Did manage the target species near the end of the session but not very big. That’s it now for me till hopefully we see a decent spring run of plaice. Good luck to those persevering over the winter months.

Well done Nigel - you can safely put those size fours in storage until next summer now!
