Tangles

Perhaps buy a small selection of rigs from our very own @kevothefish at Seaswest. You'll have some quality rigs that you can experiment with and/or copy.

The hook lengths and cascade swivel take loading of the cast with that rig.
Really, I'll have to tie one & take a look at how to improve it so they don't.

OK, done a version with no stress on the snoods,
need to recharge the camera battery & I'll put pics on the Portsmouth loop thread later.

The basic rule is to use significantly different diameter lines for snoods and body and different colour mono, even to the point of using different colour mono where two snoods go side-by-side such as on the Bomber rig. It doesn't prevent tangles but it does make them a hell of a lot easier to get apart as you can differentiate between the different parts of the rig. Also keep things as simple as possible .. some tie rigs that are a tackle shop's dream.

Blame the magazines.

They used to do two or three page articles on rigs, which were just total bullshit in my opinion. The ones I really laughed at were the drop down rigs, which they would claim would present a bait downtide of the weight.

Cast it uptide and see what happens.

Pretty pictures though.
