Afternoon all,
Made my way back to my north Kent bass Mark last night. I didn’t have the greatest of enthusiasm as I left the house but happy to report another productive session changed my mood for the better.
Arrived at 6:30 to fish up and over the 9:30pm high tide. It was the smallest tide I can remember, and my god was it slow on the flood. When the water finally made its way out I cast out both rods, one with a 2-hook lug flapper and the other with an up and over rig with whole squid.
It took all of 5 minutes before the whole squid rod slammed over and out came a nice bass of 45cm. The drizzle rain followed shortly afterwards and I retreated to my shelter, but the bites kept on coming and out came the little tiny bass and I landed 4 on the trot, two on one rig. These all were taking the lug on the flapper rig.
So 5 bass in within the first hour or so was a really good start. It went a bit quiet for a bit before landing a dreaded whiting. Then bang on high water my squid rod went mental and this time a very active 54cm bass greeted me on the shingle. Very happy indeed!
I fished on for another hour into the ebb and missed 3 more bites, but these would have been small bass I reckon.
Anyway, another fun evening in the rain!
Hopefully squeeze a few more sessions in before the season is over.
Until next time
Alan
