For what I do have settled on the following knots which covers me..

For joining lines braid to mono leader....FG

Joining braid to braid leader.. PR knot (or Uni to Uni)

Mono to Hooks / swivels ....Improved improved clinch knot (97%) See sandman video at 2:13 (this is not the normal modified clinch knot , is stronger and neater )

Braid to hooks/swivels.. double line Uni knot close to 100% See video below (not a double uni knot )

Circle hooks... snell knot

SANDMAN 2:13 (improved improved clinch knot)

DOUBLE LINE UNI (NOT double uni as stated in video)

I`ve used a blood or half blood and for heavier species attaching a hook, Palomar knot. Lost many fish over 65+ years but never to a knot giving. Can tie them with my eyes shut in seconds.
I used tucked half blood knots for most things. Full blood to make flapper loops (cheap and easy with stiff line and I cba with crimps and springs) and mono to braid a granny to uni knot, with the braid put through twice.

For extreme thick trace line I just use the ‘long liner’s knot’ which is crude as anything but they don’t slip, I can swing off the shed beam on one to test it.

I’ve likely had the odd blood knot fail but only when I’ve rushed it and done a poor job, so user error.

I’m sure there are better knots out there but like you I have faith in these simple knots and they work for me and are quick and easy to tie.
Some of the popular fancy ones look like a spider’s worst nightmare!

Not heard that name before, is it a 2 turn blood knot ?
I'll use that on 100lb+ mono, having been shown it by a Tuna skipper at Ascension.

It’s this one… tbh don’t know what it’s real name is but a guernsey angler showed me and said the long liners use it…

In SA they form the loops by wrapping round the finger.. is very fast way of doing it.. is the most common knot used there... and yes it is good for doing thicker lines too.. up to 100lbs

I use it on 150lb, still works well although the knot looks messy but it does its job.
I just don’t like crimps, had a few fail although that might be down to me crimping poorly, but I don’t trust the things

Yeah I am nervous of crimps too.. I end up either over tight or too loose
