Totally agree! I have had some amazing Bass sessions in back lit venues. I also saw a huge shoal of Bass on the surface at night in the pool of light given off by a spot light on our pier years agoI do laugh at the bass = no lights.
Biggest load of going.
Get those lights blazing.
Especially if you are releasing lots of whiting/pouting close in.
Once the bass are feeding, you can keep a belly up whiting in full beam and watch Mr spiky nail it.
I would have turned my head torch upTalking of pissing people off and nothing to do with bells! But I had a chuckle to myself a few weeks ago, there I was fishing in the dark with my headlamp on its low setting looking at my rod tips (light away from the water I hasten to add!) when a Dad and his lad walked past stopped for a quick chat then started Bass fishing in the next bay and sitting in total darkness. About 20 mins later the lad comes over and held his hand out saying…it looks like you’re struggling to see your rod tips so Dad asked me to give you these as he handed me a couple of rod tip snap lights and tape!
In other words…turn that fecking lamp off … we’re Bass fishing!!!
Exactly that Dave. IMO street lights or pier lights are permanent fixtures and the fish get used to it.I have had lots of Bass from Padstow harbour wall at night , right under the harbour wall lights , however the Bass are used to the lights as they are always on, in fact I think that the Bass know that the lights attract the smaller bait fish /sandeels etc and take advantage .
I am not so sure what would be the result if you started to shine headlamps around on an isolated bass beach that is normally in total darkness , I have always been careful to avoid shining lights around the fishing area when fishing further down the estuary where it ia always dark at night. I have done OK fishing in the dark, but have not bothered to try with the headlamps on, maybe I should just to prove a point ?
Dave .
So you reckon the big bonfire I build on the beach before starting to fish every session might be the wrong thing?Exactly that Dave. IMO street lights or pier lights are permanent fixtures and the fish get used to it.
Full beams scanning the surf from Lighthouse Larry ain’t gonna encourage bass to feed!
There’s no place for it!So you reckon the big bonfire I build on the beach before starting to fish every session might be the wrong thing?
