Penn Rods tend to be heavy imo. other makes are available.
 
Great reel so far, build quality feels as good as my Shimano technique mgs xt's but Penn is heavier but that probably helps balance a powerful beach rod better. If I were in the market for three big pit carp reels I would be tempted to buy these over techniums and save a fortune.
