North East No cod fishing ☹️

You know as well as i do that the only Pollock Via's caught wouldnt of been big enough to have any lateral lines or a jaw, hes been looking at my photos again ;)
I remember years ago when Dave was fishing Amlwch breakwater using a mackerel head for bait trying to catch congers.
Next to him was a young lad fishing with his Father catching nothing but keeping a keen eye on Mr Baggies and begging him to put a hat on because of the glare of the sun off his head lol. By the way he's not really bald so he says, he just has a very wide center parting lol.
Anyway Dave gets a bite and strikes into it hard with lightning speed but misses the fish.
He then reels in with his mackerel head still intact when the little boy says to his Father- "Look Dad that man strook into that fish so hard he's pulled the head clean off it."

Cheers via I thought it was, as coalfish tend to be more green on the back and go darker as they get bigger. A new pb with an 8inch Pollock🏆😂😂
The easiest way to tell, a Coalie has a dead straight lateral line that is very pronounced. Also, coalies tend to be very dark on top and almost a white / silver belly.
