Newer Rod Brands.

Yes, had one of the early ones but only used it off pier ends onto clean ground and mixed to clean beach, smooth to cast and pleasant to use. ( century c curve)

There are a lot of casters using the zulcron rods, the 435 xt in particular but other than the xgt 14 they are far too stiff to be classed as beach rods
435 xt sounds like the one. Its a great rod, lovely curve in the tide, alot better than Komp SS

It must be a some “tide” as they are a poker and hardly bend even with fish on, even the lads who use them in the north east punted them and got the xt lite’s instead

used to use an ss on northeast coast onto clean ground with big seas ( just fishable ) with seven or 8 once leads and mono and was not a Lead tripper and allowed moving onto rock later if needed.
Other thing is not too harsh to use with braid with nice progressive action, am told ss same tip as sport but cannot be certain of this but had both at one point and still have a ss.🤷🏽‍♂️ Edit, only now use ss with egg whisk and braid into rough stuff.

Pal uses a xt lite and used to love conoflex rods, likes it mainly because of price and can leave home (northeast) and fish anywhere, though would not be a option if exclusively fishing clean ground he tells me.

Not really mate. Just the chesil tide, my Komps hardly bend at all, the zulcron had a lovely curve, reminded me of the t900’s.

We will have to disagree on this as the standard 435 XT is absolutely nothing like a t900 it is the equal of a t1200 all day long but find out from your mate what rod it was never the less
cheers

I’ve not cast the zulcron so cant comment on the rod as a whole. All i meant was the tip curve is similar to that of a t900.
I’ve seen a t1200 on the beach and the tip on that was solid with very little curve.
The rod he has is the xt435 gt?

Which
which one has the "tip is lovely for the beach", because my two are so far removed from the beach and they are not even the strongest ones
Am I right in thinking the only current models with decent bite detection are the xt435gt and the x-gt 14 ? Think both the lite and super lite both have carbon tips and despite the lite in the name are still very powerful rods as the xt part refers to extreme tournament.

probably worth mentioning limitless rods in the mix as a brand name that emerged upt north which have a following.
Also think everyone reinventing the wheel one way or another, but some wheels more expensive than others for good
Reason maybe.🤷🏽‍♂️

As far as bite detection goes the first 2 you mention have glass in the tips so are better than the xt range, the x-gt14 would be the most manageable as the xt435 gt shares the same butt as the standard xt. The xt 435, lite and superlite have stiff tips but they are usually used with braid so bite detection is not a problem, I have a couple of the older ones a match and a match lite and the match would handle anything unfortunately it has a 28mm butt and is a bit of a handful the match lite is also “j curve” action and is more of an all round sort of rod, I do use it for pleasure on medium rough ground when I am down at the waters edge I would not be lifting fish up high cliffs and the like, both of these rods have good bite detection, there is a post on wsf from last year where a guy shows the rods with weight on the tips, it is worth a look

could also give zulcron up in Hartlepool a ring and have chat to see if there is something that may suit you and your type of fishing, very helpful folks.

Did you ever watch "Rex Hunt" back in the day ?
In Aus when fishing off cliffs, they have a large treble hook tied on to a strong lite line that they slide down their maim line & trace to snag the fish & pull it up the cliff o_O

Now that's another one that's been around for some time in the century range ,the compressor SS , not a rod I had ever seen down on the south coast but saw one for the first time only last week in a tackle shop in Devon and was surprised at how slim it is and it felt fairly lite. A Google search for reviews only threw up a few conflicting bits of info with some saying it's strictly a very rough ground rod and a beast to cast while others said it's easy to cast and a good all-rounder.
Wait n try a bit of Italcanna...

Spoke to an old friend that I hadn't heard from for a long time recently,he's a keen match anglers well known on the south coast. He was always a zziplex man and used bullets for a long time but he now has italcana but more recently zulcron but I haven't met up either him so not seen them but he was always a big caster so I know without doubt his zulcrons will be too powerful for me. To be honest I'm not looking to buy more rods, just curious what some of these newer brands are like, my daiwa tournament pro surfs are great for clean to mixed ground which is ninety percent of my fishing.
