Met up with John yesterday in the hope of some early Herrings at Mutton cove, was intrigued to see how it was going to fish as it looked a great venue, straight away was in to a Goldsinny on a dropshot rig, so no blank, a short move to a corner of the pier found a nice collection of fish, Pollock, Corkwings, Ballans and only the second one for me this year, a Scorpion fish.

After a bit we went on to the main part of the pier to have a bash at the Herring, small jellies was cast out and recast and recast, but bugger all was out there to take them. John dropped them close in and caught a couple of small Pollock as I reverted back to trapshotting and cranked the species up with a feisty Tompot.
As the tide made and the light was beginning to go, I had a couple better Ballans out, around the pound mark tho john says only half a pound!! but then he said there was Herrings here so I know what weight im going with:p
As it started to turn dimpsy some bigger boys came down to play with their bigger rods, so we decided to have a punt around the café, along the prom a bit, we was joined by Johns nephew Ben and his mate, unfortunately there was bugger all here bar a few small Pollock but a final species made a show for the day, a Pouting.
I was getting knackered after only 3 hours of fishing and decided to call it a day before being to tired to find my way through Plymouths centre and home.
We managed 7 species between us and must have been around 35- 40 fish, was a very enjoyable session so cheers John for showing me this mark, despite the lack of Herrings!!.
