mini long line

Where i would be doing it should be ok.

I'll say i am looking for my buried ground chains.:LOL:

Certainly sea trout there as well,:whistle: but would not target them;);)
You will need a game - salmon & sea trout license for them. Mega bucks :(

Hooks to high maybe? I would have thought hooks on the seabed would do better

hi they were on the bottom ...laying there almost as I put it out no snagging with weed or anything

There is/must definitely be a line/point where a change in a tidal river becomes classed as sea (meaning you do not need licence) and you can fish it without rod licence, but on the other side you most certainly need licence even if you say you are only fishing for sea fish.

Edit; Just had a quick glance through advice about this and yes some are saying that you can target sea fish in a tidal river, but are also saying that it is unclear where some define the exact line.
On the Arun in Sussex the tidal stretch finishes at Pulborough. ie when the tide goes out the banks are still level with water. In Lewes area Sussex Ouse the tidal stretch finishes at Barcombe some 8-10 miles upstream from Newhaven.

Be careful on the Teifi, they will nick you and your gear. Check out the TTA website.

it was between 2 banksticks but attached the hooklenght between them after pushing them in and simply tied the line to the base of the stick so was running tight along the bottom.. don't think was a presentation issue just didn't happen lol

Check your local ifca lad as there can be all sorts of bylaws.
Some regions are chit hot spotting stuff and some not so.
Long lines and nets and pots need a ticket here which you can get from them.
Tread careful lad?

hi guys I'm bored and considering making a little 6 or 10 hook long line for tonight's tide lol ?

not something iv done before but was just thinking of using some little old hooks that I'll never use rod and line fishing and just laying it out with little baits for flatties ...
wondering if there's any laws against this lol ? it feels wrong to me but it's popped in my head and the tides too late to fish with a rod tonight .
bass police rest easy there's pretty much 0 chance of any being there at the moment .
anyone tried it before ?
don't hate me haha ?
just fancy a dab or 2

...oh and id wait for it to be covered before leaving it be and getting there before it's uncovered tomo
Many years ago, my pal AW and his parents used to holiday in a chalet on the cliff at Whitsand Bay in Cornwall.
They would dig sandeels for bait at low tide and lay a ground line, wading out and weighting it at both ends with a large stone. They caught all sorts of fish, including bass, turbot, plaice, rays and dogfish, and occasionally the line would be smashed up by something large, maybe a tope or a conger.
Alas! There are far fewer sandeels about now, and your most likely catch is a surfer. PH

FYI, i had a chat with an NRA bailiff a few years back re estuary fishing and licences and he stated that as long as i was using sea fishing tactics/tackle a licence was not needed if in tidal waters.
Yup?But setting a static line is a different kettle of fish?pardon the pun!

My old man always hauled his when we left. Lay it at low. Fish the tide up as normal and , pay ing line of the large wooden reel as the tide flooded. A big flat 5lb lead anchored it. Hell of a drag to get in with a few fish on. I can remember having it wrapped couple of turns around me and walking about 20 yards, wind on the slack and repeat

Nice one lad ?
Same as many a time but it’s a bit too rulebook nowadays ?

But did he give you the actual point where you could not use sea fishing tactics?
