I have a wire loom coming out of my VW TDI 150-5 engine that has a plug with a couple of loopback wires connected to the end of this wire loom, if the plug is connected then everything is fine, if it is taken off then the engine is very rough and vibrates a lot and if you push the throttle forward the engine revs will not increase the gearbox will not engage.

Does anyone know what this little plug is

Maybe stops the boat from sinking - just jesting :ROFLMAO:

If you click on the pic and search the web.

I gives images like sensor or fuel cut off switch, if that is any hap to you.

On one of the images it looks like there is writing on a side, but just too tilted to be read. I might be able to do some magic if you share a photo of that side.

Like minds.

I took a photo with my phone and enlarged it and managed to find the exact connecter online, it's a VW connecter, but to be honest it's completely unsuitable for the job it's doing as it's not waterproof and it doesn't connect together very securely, so if I simply replace it with the same connecter it will corrode again.

I still don't know what it does apart from being some sort of immobiliser, one pair stops the engine from starting and one pair stops the engine from revving when in gear.

I've decided to purchase an IPF68 rated connecter that screws together, this should solve the problem of losing drive when the boat is in gear.
