Loon Outdoors UV Knot Sense

Not a clue what that is 🤣

Never heard of it. Mr Google found it.
Looks like it's for Fly fishing so that's me out.
Also no mention of where the company are from. One to avoid.

Loon products are generally very good if a little pricey. I've never used the Knot Sense but have read of those that do think it prevents slippage. I'm pernickety about knots and trust the ones I've settled on knowing that every connection is a potential weakness, so factor this in.

I agree with you Trampster.

I’ve been using uv resin for years on my leader knots and it’s brilliant stuff. Quite why we need a specific product for this I’m not sure, but I suspect it’s marketing.
Bug Off is the one I use, much cheaper and can be zapped with the pen, rather than a larger black light.

How come?
although strictly not required, I find it beneficial for the following reasons.
The thin layer can be formed into a more streamlined shape, this allows for smoother passage through the rod rings.
Even the best tied knots can sometimes become loose over time, this method prevents any movement in the knot.
It’s actually flexible, so doesn’t result in any undue pressure on the line or knot.
I only lure fish, so cannot comment on the situation with bait fishing, but don’t see why this method couldn’t work for the leader knot to a tapered leader knot.

I find supergloo works as well.

Bug Off - that's the insect repellent I use???

Used a non UV setting stuff when splicing loops on fly lines, Flexament. Use Bug Off for fly tying and waterproofing plugs. Waterproof and flexible. Super glue is brittle and not waterproof.

Never had a problen with attaching a leader for fly fishing.

I had a factory welded loop fail, they are only the flyline coating melted together, so I always made my own loops from Gudebrod braided nylon whipped on and coated with Flexament. Nail knot does the job for trout fishing.
