Thank you mate, there is something very special in catching fish in the winter, maybe because of a different mind set to combat the cold.well done i miss the bass in the winter
Thank you so much Alan for the wonderful and kind comments buddy. If my reports get even one person inspired to go fishing , then its job done, but the biggest enjoyment is writing a report to share with everyone which is Just as satisfying as catching the fish.Hello Buddy,i see you`re up to your old tricks again, well done and may they continue into the New Year, your reports are an inspiration to a lot of anglers.Happy New Year to you and yours...Alan

Thank you mate, wishing you a very happy new year too mate. The very best of Health wealth and friendship in the year head.Great Fish Mukiwa, and a great start to 21. So can anyone tell me if our departure from Europe and their rules will change our ability to take Bass . Will we see new UK rules in the year ahead ?
Good morning Ken,Great Fish Mukiwa, and a great start to 21. So can anyone tell me if our departure from Europe and their rules will change our ability to take Bass . Will we see new UK rules in the year ahead ?
Good info Gavin. I think the current limit is reasonable. A lot of folks these days pratice catch & release, and for those that take fish for the table, 2 per day is ample. We only eat fish around once a week, and Wifey won't eat any fish unless it's come from a supermarket breaded or battered, so whilst I would like to catch & eat a Bass (I've never targetted or caught one!) The one fish in a week would be ample for me. I'd sooner catch & eat a few 3Lb Whiting, as I saw caught & cooked off the South Coast on Youtube a few days ago!Good morning Ken,
So I have some info from a very good friend, which I have copy and paste his answer for you.
Defra/Government have decided, for the time being, to carry over the same bass restrictions from 2020 into 2021. After the dust has settled with Brexit and fisheries they will review the bass situation on a UK fishery basis as part of implementing the New Fisheries Act. They will no doubt take note of what the EU are doing with bass in their waters as northern bass stocks migrate between the two and decide what happens. The science does seem to indicate increasing stock mass and the EU may further relax recreational and commercial restrictions given that data before the UK does.
I am sure the NFFO, AT, BASS and SOSB will have a say in what happens but don't expect big changes. Personally I think there are two possibilities, 1) the recreational bag limit could increase to 3 bass per day and 2) we could have parity with CF on the number of weeks/months we can retain bass. However, I expect bass restrictions will be with us for at least a few more years to come.
Tight lines mate
